Fonts, letters, text

Fonts and letters are endless inspiration for me in my craft work. There are number of sites you can download various font types for free. Look at this links, eg:
1001freefonts.com
dafont.com
fontzone.net

But there is a script I like very much, although it is not in use any more: Glagolitic alphabet. Look on the pictures how the letters are beautiful and interesting.
It is part of Croatian history and was used for centuries.

If you are interested in this font, you can download it from this site
(Site is on Croatian, download is on the bottom of the page, right side  - 'cijeli paket').

Nowadays, original jewelry and  souvenirs could be found inspired by this alphabet.

If you'd like to read a little bit more about Glagolitic alphabet:

Glagolitic fonts

The Glagolitic alphabet , also known as Glagolitsa,  is the oldest known Slavic alphabet from the 9th century. The creation of the characters is popularly attributed to  Saints Ciril and Methodius, who may have created them in order to facilitate the introduction of Christianity. The Glagolitic liturgy started spreading probably at the end of the 9th century, when Cyril and Methodius’ pupils had to leave Moravia and some of them  went to  Croatia , where the squared variant arose and where the Glagolitic remained in use for a long time. In 1248, Pope Innocent IV  gave the Croats  the unique privilege of using their own language and this script in the liturgy - important liturgical books were translated into Slavic.

The term Glagolitism includes activities run by the Glagolitic monks regarding culture, religion and enlightenment among the Croats from the 11th to the 19th century. From the 14th century thicker codices, missals and breviars begam to appear, including biblical contents, prayers, legends, Old and New Testament apocrypha, early Christian legends, homilies and Biblical texts.

There are two types of Glagolitic script: rounded Glagolitic script (used on monuments until the beginning of the 12th century) and square Glagolitic script (used for the greatest number of monuments from the 12th - 15th century). From the 15th century Glagolitic italics began to be used. Along with Glagolitic letters there are also numbers.
The Glagolitic alphabet has no special symbols for numbers, but each letter has its corresponding numerical value according to its place in the alphabet. To indicate that the letter is used as a number, a dot is place before or after the letter-number, and a line (titla) above it.
